Outdoor Montessori Classroom + Packing a Go Bag I Hill Country Homestead Texas
Teaching a child to pack a bag is a classic Montessori practical life work, folding a shirt, a pair of pants, socks, etc. is the first lesson. This variation teaches the child to prepare to be outdoors for a hike, a swim, or even just an extended period. Our kids are in the habit of packing a go bag for themselves on days we stay home. Keeping the routine of packing a small bag with a set list of items, so nothing extra gets dragged along has helped the toddlers to premeditate their own needs and gives them the ability to meet them when they are away from home. It's a simple lesson and a useful item to add to your child's daily routine. You can arrange your own set of things you think are needed but keep it super basic so the child can mentally check off each one on their own without too many extra items to remember.
