Natural Wonder at Cave Without a Name l Hill Country Homestead

Colossal caverns and otherworldly passages exist just below our toes out here in the Texas Hill Country. Caves and karsts have been at the top of our family's experience-based outings lately because they are intricate, interesting, physically intense, and get the wonder and imagination running wild. Cave Without a Name is just across the river from our homestead, so it was high time we visited this natural treasure that may very well run under our house!
The main office and gift shop is a good starting point for this Boerne-based adventure. Our family is on a mission to have our Texas Cave Passport stamped at all five Texas Show Caves. Cave Without A Name is the second cave to check off our list. You can find locally sourced gems and geodes and other wonderful exploration and science-based gifts, gadgets, and trinkets in the gift shop. There is plenty to do above ground as you arrive at this rural Texas hill country campus. Photo opportunities, a labyrinth, natural climbing boulders, gem sleuthing, gem mining, and camping! Cave Without A Name also hosts boy scouts, school groups, birthday parties, and even weddings! Once your ticket is purchased in the main building, it’s time to descend to an underground world that cool, calm, and wet! It had just rained substantially in Kendall County, so the cave was dripping wet and so alive with life!
The pathways were easy to navigate, and the little kids could keep up with the tour group easily. Cave Without A Name boasts spectacular formations of Stalactites, Stalagmites, delicate Soda Straws, Cave Drapery, magnificent Flowstones, Rimstone Dams, and more. The formations in this cave were exceptionally breathtaking. We were surprised to think how close to home this natural wonder is. We could swim across the Guadalupe River and get to the cave. We truly enjoyed the tour of the six main rooms of the cave in such comfort. It was 66 degrees with easy walkways and brilliant lighting.
Seeing the wonder in the kids eyes when we are exploring is an inspiration to me. Taking time to slow down and enjoy the abundant beauty of the world above and below is important to our homeschool curriculum and Im so thankful the great state of Texas has so much to offer when it comes to wanderlust.
